Track 13 off Tha Demo Vol. 3
Street life

lyrics

You know, we all going through our own personal trials and tribulations. And we all got our own lessons to learn. Sometimes we get that feeling of being trapped inside of a box and we can't get out. Like we're standing in line for the slaughter house, patiently waiting our turn. It's hard to push through the barrier with crabs in a bucket pulling you down. Seems like we're surrounded by a muddy abyss. It's like, the more you struggle, the deeper you get. So hold your breath and try not to drown.

Feels like i fell in a trap. Back in these streets, selling a sack. Supposed to be on the front line but i'm still in the back. It ain't that i ain't willing to act. Give me a beat and i'm killing the track. It's just, it's really exactly "Can you stand the rain?" Can't withstand the pain. Praying that things goin change. Tryina find my way home. Still running from the po po. Whoop! Whoop! Oh God, they're right behind me. Bright lights in my rear view. It's clear, you know that it's blinding. Timing is everything. All we have is the here and now. Pull me out my car and all you hear is 'Plow! Plow! Plow! Plow!' Another senseless murder. Oscar Grant and Shawn Bell. Or you're trapped in a vicious circle. Parole, probation or on bail. Go on tell me something good. Your own neighborhood will kill you. That's why i sleep with a loaded gun underneath my pillow. Another bloody murder right before your babies' eyes. Why do we live this crazy life? What's going on?

Get up, stand up. Stand up for yourself. Keep on going through it, man. Getting harder, but i'ma keep on fighting. No matter what.

Beer bottles in the parking lot. Wilding out whether it's dark or not. Look out, dog. You ain't biting s*** so what the f*** are you barking about? Babies taking care of themselves. Parents out there clubbing. Mommy's making babies again with a man that's not her husband. Pills left on the kitchen counter. 5th of liquor and the young'ns down it. It takes a village to raise a child. Now look at our surroundings. Sounds like the bad guy is this generation's role model. Gang bangers are celebrities and dope dealers are showing you how to start a business. A heart's relentless. But without proper guidance, how can you resist temptations? Can i get a witness? i'm just calling it how i see it. And how i see it, we've been lied to. Oh, you feel safe? Really? Look out. It's right behind you! Common sense. The poor community is expanding. Blame it on bad decisions and also careless planning. But how can you expect a flower to grow in a garden of poison? If we just educate our minds, maybe we'll make better choices. Spoon fed idiocracy through our ears and our eyes. Turn off all that bulls***. Stand up for yourself. Rise! Take a breath and feel alive. Realize it's our time. No lies. Defy being a statistic. Tear down these walls.
